We are hiring! Outdoor Guide/Coach

An exciting opportunity has come up to work as an Outdoor Guide/Coach with Ashford Outdoors.

We are looking to recruit experienced Outdoor guides/coaches in each for of the following areas;

Responsible for the delivery of Archery, Bike Tours and Clay Shooting. 

This roll will also include maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Ashford Outdoors is a family owned and run activity and equestrian centre located in the heart of the breathtaking 5 star resort of Ashford Castle, Cong, Co. Mayo, Ireland.  The Estate is nestled amongst the scenic splendors of Lough Corrib a short drive away from Galway city in the West of Ireland.

Ashford Outdoors provides outdoor experiences for families, couples, groups, corporate organizations, sports teams and individuals seeking exceptional outdoor experiences in a safe but fun environment. Ashford Outdoors has been offering activity and equestrian experiences in the West of Ireland for over 30 years.

You will be responsible for leading and delivering sessions/programmes that exceed our guest’s expectations. Key to this is to deliver safe sessions and use/manage equipment in accordance with regulated and advisory bodies, manufactures guidelines and Ashford Outdoors procedures.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience\skills in the following areas:

  • Be highly qualified in at least two outdoor activities as a coach, guide or Instructor by a recognised national governing body. For example an ICU level 2 coach or ERCA Adventure parks award or equivalent
  • Outdoor Instruction: Minimum of at least 1 years prior experience required
  • Safety conscious and trained in H&S in the workplace or willing to undertake this training
  • Proven motivational and development skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Pro-active and diligent approach to tasks
  • Demonstrates adaptability and problem solving skills
  • Proven communication skills – Verbal and written
  • Holder of current First Aid at Work certificate, preferably Wilderness or REC

 We are hiring! Sales administrator/ Receptionist

Job Title:

Sales administrator and receptionist

Reporting to

Business Owner/ Duty Manager -

Job Purpose

To work as part of the front of house team at Ashford Outdoors, primarily to answer phone calls, emails, manage bookings, take payments, meet and greet customers as well as helping to assist with the smooth running of the front of house area. Perparation of teas and coffees.  To take bookings from and help maintain a good relationship with our main customer Ashford Castle as well as members of the public. The aim of our front of house team is provide an efficient, friendly and informative service to clients, in particular making welcome the many day visitors as well as guests staying on the Estate at the Lodge and Castle.

This is a varied role which encompasses sales, planning, taking payments, administration and a large amount of telephone and e-mail contact with customers and the sales and reservations teams at the Castle and Lodge. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the phone is always answered and implementing the customer focused cycle of service from reservation to departure.  Barrista experience would be an advantage as we also provide this service.

Key Objectives

1.       Answer sales enquiries.

·         Build positive relationships with customers to ensure repeat bookings

·         Proactively seek repeat business from existing customers during contact with them

·         If a customer’s first choice is not available, seek to offer alternatives in order to retain customers and conclude sales

2.       Provide a level of service to customers which meets the standards set by the General Manager.

·         Handle telephone calls, correspondence and associated administration from customers

·         Liaise with the sales and reservations teams from Ashford Castle and the Lodge

·         Liaise with the management team to ensure customers’ needs are understood and met

·         Answer queries from customers, make recommendations and endeavour to solve any problems arising

·         Effectively manage our online sales platform and corrolate it with our off line sales in order to ensure correct availability for customers.

As per the standard procedures/process.

  1. Keep all paper work up-to-date and take payments over the phone

  • Ensure new bookings are loaded accurately and correctly to our excel spreadsheets
  • Ensure you have liaised with owners and instructors to maximise availability without compromising instructor- customer ratios
  • Take payments over the phone and mark as paid on the reservation

Additional Information

Full training will be given but the successful candidate will be confident and mature and have a pleasant and effective telephone manner. Excellent attention to details is vital, as is the ability to organise and administer a busy workload. All applicants should be computer literate and numerate with some Word/Excel experience and have a good standard of written English. Some experience in a customer facing role would be an advantage.

The job would suit someone who enjoys working in a busy, customer focused environment and also likes animals and have an interest in the outdoors.
