FAQs

I’ve never been on a horse, is that OK?

Absolutely! We have horses to cater for all abilities and with our qualified and experienced staff we try to make each experience as enjoyable as possible.

What should I wear horse riding?

Just wear something comfortable, and if it’s colder wear warm clothing and gloves. We will provide appropriate footwear and hard hats which meet the current safety standards.

What should I wear for the other activities?

For all land-based activities we recommend comfortable clothing and a jacket, we will provide all other safety equipment.

For our water sports we ask you to take swimwear, towel and footwear that you don’t mind getting wet. We will provide wetsuits or dry cagoules, depending on your preference.

What kind of safety equipment do you use on the zip-line and tree climb?

Each participant, for the entire session, is in a chest harness, a sit harness, helmet and safety clip which is attached to the line at all times. We have a closed-circuit belay system so once the participant is attached to the line they stay on it until the course is finished.

How long is the zip lining course?

Our zip line adventure course is approximately 500m long. We have 7 different ziplines in toal plus an additional 20 plus ropes course elements ranging from 2 – 10 metres. However, watch this space as we are constantly extending the course with additional zip lines and ropes course elements!

How high is your tree climb?

‘Old Monty’ as we like to call him is 164ft high or 50 metres and is Ireland's tallest tree climb!

What age can children be to do your activities?

We can take children from the age of 4 years and up for our horse riding and tree climbing. For zip lining and archery, the recommended age is approximately 7 years and up however please do call us if your child is younger as we may be able to accommodate them.

For our water sports and bike tours the recommended minimum age is 8 years old, however, again, please contact us if you are in doubt.

For our clay shooting all participants must be over 16 years of age.

Can you tell me what guns you use for your Clay Shooting range?

We use a 12-gauge over and under shotgun. We also have a .410 calibre shotgun. All our guns are specifically designed for trap shooting which means the recoil is greatly reduced.

I want to do your activities, but I’ve recently had an operation/found out I’m pregnant?

We do ask that our guests are reasonably physically fit, and should you be in any doubt we ask that you seek advice from your GP before participating.

I want to visit the Ashford Estate for the day; can I do activities with yourselves?

Of course! We welcome those who live locally or are here visiting the area. All our activities are available however we ask that you book the clay pigeon shooting as part of a package – archery is a great combination.
